Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Unilever and Union Coop are increasing electric truck deliveries in the UAE by establishing a new distribution route between Unilever's warehouse and Union Coop's distribution center, with ambitions to expand operations to select retail locations.
The truck deployed on the route can transport 26 standard pallets or up to 25 tons and has an average working range of around 375 kilometers per charge. The process is estimated to save around 8,900 liters of gasoline and 23.9 tons of CO₂ each year.
The move expands Unilever's current electric logistics fleet in the UAE. Earlier in 2026, Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company (FAMCO) delivered the UAE's first Volvo FH Electric heavy-duty truck to Unilever for FMCG distribution between its Dubai Industrial City and Dubai South logistics facilities.
The Volvo FH Electric was equipped with six battery packs totaling 540 kWh of installed capacity, as well as a 40kW DC charger from FAMCO.
Unilever's electric van and heavy-duty truck operations have saved 98,500 liters of gasoline and 257 tons of CO₂ since their introduction.
The Union Coop route is the next step in that effort, with the firms utilizing normal commercial operations to evaluate charging, route design, loading, vehicle use, and delivery dependability as Unilever grows zero-emission logistics in the UAE.
