Qatar To Establish First EV Manufacturing Plant With Watt EV

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Qatar-based JTA International Investment Holding has collaborated with Watt Electric car Company (Watt EV), a UK electric car expert, to build Qatar's first EV production factory.

The long-term agreement will develop and construct a new line of electric passenger and commercial vehicles designed exclusively for Qatar and the broader Gulf market. Vehicle engineering will be done in the UK, with manufacture taking place at a new manufacturing plant in Qatar under the Made in Qatar brand.

The cars will be built on Watt EV's unique PACES (Passenger And Commercial EV Skateboard) platform, which provides a common architecture that can be tailored to various passenger and commercial vehicle applications.

A significant emphasis will be on developing cars for Gulf operating circumstances, such as battery performance and thermal management in high temperatures, as well as regional driving needs and client preferences.

Beyond vehicle production, the relationship includes product development, engineering, production planning, and knowledge transfer, with the goal of increasing local automotive manufacturing competence and creating skilled jobs in Qatar.

The investment supports Qatar's National Vision 2030 and the country's efforts to diversify its industrial base, with JTA and Watt EV seeking to establish Qatar as a regional hub for electric car manufacture and automotive technologies.
