Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Foton Motor signed a contract to provide 800 heavy duty trucks in Zambia, one of the company’s biggest commercial vehicle contracts in the Southeast Africa.
Zambia has become a significant freight and logistics center in southern Africa servicing vital commercial routes connecting the ports of Dar es Salaam, Beira, Durban and Walvis Bay.
The transport demand connected with mining and regional commerce has expanded, creating a greater need for dependable heavy-duty vehicles and fleet support services.
Foton has been progressively growing its footprint throughout Africa by investing in aftersales services, spare parts distribution and technical support. The business has set up parts warehouses in Zambia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique to help operators and decrease vehicle downtime.
The purchase may be tied to Zambia’s mining industry, especially the copper industry whose need for heavy transport equipment and logistical services is still strong.
