FedEx Orders 2,000 Harbinger Electric Delivery Trucks In $300 Million Deal

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - FedEx has signed a definitive order for 2,000 all-electric medium-duty delivery vehicles from US manufacturer Harbinger, for more than $300 million. The transaction is said to be the biggest binding purchase of electric vehicles to date.
The trucks will be Class 5 and Class 6, with gross vehicle weights ranging between 7.25 and 11.79 tons. They will replace diesel-powered trucks in FedEx's pickup and delivery operations across the United States and Canada, with deliveries set to begin in late 2027.
According to Harbinger, the electric fleet may save FedEx up to $40 million each year, or $800 million over the course of the vehicle's expected 20-year lifetime. According to US Department of Energy statistics, the manufacturer predicts that the deployment may reduce CO₂ emissions by nearly 1.7 million tons over that time.
The trucks include purpose-built electric chassis, extensive driver aid systems, and a turning radius of around 12.8 meters. Their design aims to increase maneuverability and decrease driver fatigue in urban delivery operations.
The partnership expands on the two firms' current financial ties. FedEx was a co-lead investor in Harbinger's $160 million investment round in early 2025, which helped the firm expand into commercial electric car manufacturing.
The purchase is part of FedEx's larger aim to electrify its entire pickup and delivery truck fleet by 2040, as major logistics operators want to lower fuel consumption and operating costs by adopting battery-electric commercial vehicles.
