Dubai Sets Rules For Autonomous Heavy Vehicles In Logistics

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has approved a regulatory framework for autonomous heavy vehicles in logistics transport. The framework covers licensing, safety standards, technology requirements, and pilot trials.

The move supports Dubai’s goal to make 25% of journeys autonomous by 2030 and forms part of the Commercial and Logistics Land Transport Strategy 2030, which targets doubling the sector’s economic contribution, cutting emissions by 30%, and boosting efficiency by 10%.

Initial trials will run on five routes including Jebel Ali Port, Al Maktoum International Airport, and Dubai Investments Park. RTA has also launched “Logisty,” a digital platform with TruKKer, to streamline fleet management and on-demand logistics services.
