Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Saudi Arabia is reportedly getting ready to build the NEOM Stadium, a "sky stadium" that could be the first of its kind in the world.
The 46,000-seat facility will be powered entirely by renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, in line with the country's sustainability goals under Vision 2030.
The stadium, which will be more than 1,100 feet above ground, is part of The Line, NEOM's linear smart city.
Construction is expected to start in 2027 and finish by 2032, which is around the time Saudi Arabia is trying to win the right to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
The NEOM Stadium is expected to set new global standards for sports architecture with its high-rise design and eco-friendly operations. But experts say that the ambitious design will be hard to build and move because of its size and location.
