Atoms Acquires Pronto To Expand Autonomous Mining Technology

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Atoms, founded by former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, has purchased autonomous haulage specialist Pronto, marking a significant shift in the mining technology business.

Following the sale, Pronto will serve as the primary technology platform for Atoms Mining, one of the company's three divisions dedicated to applying AI to industrial processes.

The acquisition is designed to accelerate the development and deployment of autonomous haulage systems (AHS), which are rapidly being recognized as critical to improving mining safety, productivity, and efficiency.

Pronto, founded in 2018, has developed an OEM-agnostic autonomous platform capable of retrofitting existing haul trucks. Its technologies have already been employed on a massive scale, including operations with Heidelberg Materials, which included autonomous vehicles transporting millions of tons of material.
