Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has established new international freight lines that link Arabian Gulf ports to the Haditha border crossing near Jordan, establishing an integrated ship-to-train logistics corridor.
Containers arriving at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, as well as Jubail Commercial Port and King Fahad Industrial Port, may be transferred immediately to train and carried interior to Jordan and northern markets.
Each train transports approximately 400 containers and covers a distance of over 1,700 kilometers, allowing for speedier cargo transfer while minimizing dependency on roads.
SAR stated that the corridor is intended to increase supply chain efficiency, facilitate exports, and promote regional commercial linkages by merging sea and rail transit into a unified system.
The business said that the new route may reduce transit times by up to 50% when compared to traditional land transport, while also helping to sustainability by transferring freight to rail.
