RAK Ports And APT Global Sign MoU For Fabrication Facility

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - RAK Ports has signed an agreement with APT Global to build a new fabrication plant in Ras Al Khaimah Maritime City, contributing to the emirate's industrial growth goal.

According to the deal, APT Global will spend around AED 50 million (about $13.6 million) to develop a 700,000-square-foot facility inside the free zone, bringing its overall footprint in the emirate to nearly 2 million square feet. The development will allow the firm to expand into offshore fabrication, renewable energy, shipbuilding, and oil and gas construction, with export markets in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

The facility will benefit from RAK Ports' greenfield expansion, Saqr 2.0, which is geared to facilitate heavy-lift and project cargo operations. The location is near to deepwater docks and provides quayside assembly, specialized logistical corridors, and access to a 14-metre draft port.

Saqr 2.0 also gives access to over 65 million square feet of free zone land within a 4-kilometer radius, as well as 50-meter-wide transport routes that connect manufacturing plots directly to port facilities. Assembly pads placed within 500 metres of the port are designed to assist the final assembly and shipment of enormous and out-of-gauge constructions.
