Etihad Rail Launches Direct Freight Service From Fujairah To Abu Dhabi

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Etihad Rail Freight and AD Ports Group have established a direct rail freight service between Fujairah Terminals and the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), establishing a 200-kilometer logistics corridor connecting the UAE's east coast to Abu Dhabi's industrial core.

The specialized service will run three times per week, transporting containers arriving at Fujairah Terminals straight to ICAD. Customs clearance, inspection, and container release may all be accomplished at the inland terminal, eliminating the need for long-distance road transit and extra cargo handling.

A crucial component of the new service is ICAD's identification with its own worldwide UN LOCODE, AECAD. Shipping lines, freight forwarders, and cargo owners may now book shipments straight to ICAD, which serves as both the destination and clearing point.

The corridor cements Fujairah's position as an alternate marine gateway for Abu Dhabi's industrial sector. Fujairah Terminals is located on the Gulf of Oman, outside the Strait of Hormuz, and handles containers, RoRo, and general cargo, with direct access to the UAE National Rail Network.

For Abu Dhabi manufacturers and logistics operators, the new route brings imported goods closer to facilities and warehouses while offering a rail option to trucks between Fujairah and the city. It is also part of AD Ports Group's larger proposal to build a rail-connected inland logistics network linking Fujairah and Khalifa Port to key UAE industrial hubs.
