Port of NEOM has achieved a key milestone with the arrival of Saudi Arabia’s first fully automated, remote-controlled ship-to-shore (STS) and electric rubber-tyred gantry (eRTG) cranes. The advanced equipment supports the port’s mission to become a global hub for smart, sustainable trade.
Strategically located on the Red Sea, Port of NEOM is positioned on a critical East–West trade corridor and is advancing rapidly toward the 2026 launch of Terminal 1. Recent infrastructure progress includes the completion of a 900-meter quay wall and the deepening of the port channel to 18.5 meters, allowing access for the world’s largest vessels.
Terminal 1 will be equipped with full horizontal transport automation, significantly increasing logistics capacity and supporting regional industrial development. In parallel, the port is investing in workforce development through a specialized training program, preparing local talent—especially from the Tabuk region—for high-tech roles in remote crane operations and industrial logistics.
