Kalmar Unveils Next-Generation Lithium-Ion Battery For Electric Equipment

Kalmar has launched its second-generation lithium-ion battery technology for its electric counterbalanced equipment portfolio, including reachstackers, empty container handlers, and forklifts. The new battery system offers higher energy capacity, improved thermal resilience, and a longer, more stable performance across varied operational conditions.

Now available globally under the European standard, the system is set to expand to U.S. and Chinese standards by 2026. The upgraded battery features advanced cell chemistry that extends lifecycle and increases energy throughput, enabling longer operational hours and reducing total cost of ownership.

In heavy-duty applications, Kalmar’s electric reachstackers equipped with the new battery can operate for up to 10 hours, boosting uptime and operational efficiency in demanding environments. Enhanced thermal stability also ensures safer and more reliable performance in hot climates.
