HD Hyundai Launches 18-Tonne Electric Forklifts

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - HD Hyundai XiteSolution has introduced a new line of 10- to 18-tonne electric forklifts, bringing battery-powered equipment into heavy-duty industrial and material handling sectors that were formerly dominated by diesel machinery.

The South Korean firm has launched mass production of the new models, expanding its electric forklift offering with larger lifting capacity after introducing medium-duty machines last year.

The flagship 18-tonne forklift can operate for up to nine hours on a single battery charge. An optional 120kW fast charger can charge the battery to 80% in around 90 minutes. The machines also include UL 2580-certified battery systems and dust and water protection rated at IP67 or higher.

The introduction comes as increasing and uncertain diesel costs fuel interest in electrified industrial equipment. Battery-powered forklifts may cut fuel and maintenance expenses while eliminating on-site exhaust emissions; however, operational savings are dependent on energy pricing and equipment use.

HD Hyundai XiteSolution, which handles the group's construction equipment operations, is increasing its electric machinery portfolio as industrial operators look for alternatives to traditional diesel fleets.
