Volvo CE Launches 65-Tonne EC650 Mining Excavator In India

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Volvo Construction Equipment has introduced the EC650 65-tonne crawler excavator in India, exhibiting it at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 in Greater Noida.

The EC650, designed for mining, mass excavation, and large-scale earthmoving, is driven by a Volvo D13E engine that generates 435hp (340kW). The India-spec equipment weighs around 63.6 tons and can hold a bucket of up to 4.6m³.

The excavator has a maximum digging depth of 7.43m, a reach of about 12.1m, and a breakout force of 284kN in boost mode. Volvo's electro-hydraulic system, heavy-duty boom and arm, and strengthened undercarriage are all intended to withstand long periods of operation in harsh mining environments. According to Volvo, hydraulic and powertrain enhancements may increase fuel economy by up to 22%.

The EC650 is ready for immediate delivery to Indian mining clients and will also be available via Volvo CE's Equipment-as-a-Service model, which includes associated services and maintenance programs.

Volvo CE utilized bauma CONEXPO INDIA to showcase a larger product range, including excavators EC210, EC215, EC220, and EC300, compactors SD110 and DD90, and an electric wheel loader L120. In addition to the new EC650, the mining show included the EC480 excavator and L150 wheel loader.
