Borusan Cat Supplies Gas Generators For Off-Grid Gold Mine In Kazakhstan

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Borusan Cat is supplying two Caterpillar G3500K gas generator sets to West Gold Mining Limited for a new gold mining operation in Kazakhstan's Aktobe area, which will provide an independent power source at a distant location without connection to the electrical grid.
Located roughly 300 kilometers from the closest city, the mine needs constant energy for development and future production. Following a feasibility analysis, West Gold Mining chose onsite gas generation over expanding grid infrastructure, which was deemed too expensive given the distance.
The Cat G3500K generator sets are intended for continuous prime-power operation and will run in island mode, enabling the mine to produce energy independent of the national grid. The technology is also built to handle increased power demands as mining activities grow.
The generators will be delivered in containerized enclosures to resist the region's harsh environment, where temperatures may drop below -30°C in winter and reach beyond 30°C in summer.
Borusan Cat, Caterpillar's authorized dealer in Kazakhstan, is providing technical assistance throughout installation and commissioning. A Customer Value Agreement is also intended to include continuous maintenance and equipment support.
The project emphasizes the need of onsite power generation for distant mining operations, where restricted grid connectivity may make diesel and gas generator systems critical for sustaining output and advancing mine development.
