Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Arctic Infra, a Finnish contractor, has ordered 12 Komatsu HM460-6 articulated dump trucks in a single purchase, making it one of the first worldwide deployments of the new type.
The machines were delivered to Komatsu dealer Suomen Rakennuskone's facilities in northern Finland and will be deployed throughout mining activities, with complete fleet commissioning scheduled in April 2026.
The purchase was first agreed upon for eight units and then increased, demonstrating trust in the new-generation model even before its formal introduction.
The HM460-6 is a significant advance from earlier versions, with a reworked engine, drivetrain, gearbox, and cab. The equipment has a payload capacity of 42 tonnes, which is backed by enhanced power output and torque.
Komatsu claims the new model improves economy and productivity, with testing demonstrating greater fuel performance and increased production per hour while keeping good off-road capabilities.
Improved visibility, rollover protection systems, and modernized in-cab controls and displays have all contributed to increased safety and comfort for operators.
The trucks have been modified for Arctic conditions, including extra equipment such as heating systems, fire suppression, lighting, and communication systems, and each unit requires lengthy outfitting prior to deployment.
Arctic Infra indicated that the investment supports its aim of modernizing its fleet, increasing operating efficiency, and strengthening its expertise in northern mining and infrastructure projects.
