From One Mine Site to a Global Standard
Two decades ago, the used machinery market looked very different. In 2006, when buyers had limited ways to independently verify the condition of heavy equipment, Mevas entered the scene with a clear mission: provide reliable, unbiased inspections for used construction machinery.
The story began with a single assignment. Founder Wolfgang Bühn travelled to a gold mine in South Africa to inspect 16 Caterpillar dump trucks on behalf of Finning Canada, a major CAT dealer. The question was simple but critical: was purchasing these machines a risk worth taking? That first inspection laid the foundation for what would become a remarkably successful international operation.
Consistent Growth and Proven Expertise
Since then, Mevas has expanded steadily. Today, the company operates a global network of experienced technicians who inspect more than 700 used heavy machines, cranes, and commercial vehicles every year. Beyond inspections, Mevas has established itself as a respected independent appraiser of heavy equipment.
Large-scale projects have demonstrated this capability time and again. Even valuations involving more than 200 machines across construction and mining operations have been completed efficiently and within tight timelines—an achievement that few competitors can match.
A Strong Position in the Crane Market
One of the more impressive developments is Mevas’s success in crane inspections. While this was not part of the original business focus, the company quickly gained a foothold in the used crane market. Today, its specialists assess mobile and crawler cranes of all sizes—quickly, reliably, and cost-effectively—in nearly 40 countries worldwide.
Single machine or a fleet of vehicles?
Whether it’s a single machine or an entire fleet, Mevas combines technical depth with a lean organizational structure. The result is professional support at competitive conditions—without unnecessary overhead.
There’s a common stereotype that German companies work quickly, reliably, and precisely. While clichés rarely tell the full story, Mevas has spent 20 years proving that these qualities can still be a daily practice. Anyone looking for clarity and confidence in the used machinery market would do well to put them to the test.
