Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Westwell has teamed with Hutchison Ports Sohar to offer 15 electric container trucks to Sohar Port, the first of their type in Oman's commercial port terminals.
The trucks are part of Westwell's Middle East expansion plan, which also aims to encourage lower-carbon logistics.
The electric vehicles are powered by 282 kWh battery packs and can go up to 150 kilometers on a full charge. They offer quick charging, automatic battery swapping, and intelligent driving capabilities that can be upgraded to greater levels of autonomy.
According to Westwell, the relationship is in line with Oman Vision 2040's national sustainability goals, as well as the country's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
Westwell, based in Shanghai, develops autonomous driving solutions for worldwide transportation operations.
