Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Volvo Construction Equipment has begun production of the A30 Electric and A40 Electric models, introducing heavy-duty electric articulated haulers to the industry.
The discovery marks a significant step forward in the electrification of large construction equipment, bringing battery-powered haulage into widespread industrial usage. The machines were initially presented at Bauma 2025 and have sparked significant interest among quarrying and mining firms.
Production is underway at the company’s Braås facility in Sweden, the historic site where articulated haulers were first developed in 1966, reflecting the company’s continued focus on innovation in the segment.
The A30 Electric and A40 Electric have payload capabilities of 29 and 39 tons, respectively, making them among of the company's biggest electric machines. They can run for up to six hours on one charge, depending on the application.
Initial supplies are intended for consumers in the United Kingdom and Norway, with further distribution throughout Europe slated for the second half of 2026.
