Ashok Leyland Opens Subsidiary In Saudi Arabia

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Ashok Leyland UAE LLC, Ashok Leyland's fully owned subsidiary, has launched a new corporation in Saudi Arabia called Ashok Leyland Saudi Company. According to regulatory filings, the parent business contributed 500,000 Saudi Riyals as initial funding to the new subsidiary.

Ashok Leyland Saudi Company was established to assist in facilitating the construction of a vehicle assembly factory for buses and trucks in the Kingdom, which would serve both local and export markets. The entity has obtained the necessary permits from Saudi Arabia's Ministries of Investment and Commerce.

Ashok Leyland already has a manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah, which commenced operations in 2010 and was the first assembly factory of its sort in the GCC.

The foundation of the new Saudi subsidiary is consistent with ambitions to expand the company's footprint in the Middle East and North Africa to 13 countries by 2030, up from seven now.

The brand has been operating in the Middle East for almost three decades and is a market leader in bus manufacture. Ashok Leyland is now the world's fourth biggest bus manufacturer and the only one situated in the GCC. It retains a significant regional market share in the staff and school transportation areas.
