Abu Dhabi Launches Autonomous Truck Pilot At KEZAD

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), which is part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has initiated a trial project for self-driving freight trucks in collaboration with Autotech and AD Ports Group.

The project, which is taking place inside Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), is touted as the Middle East and North Africa's first attempt to test autonomous vehicles for logistics and freight movement.

Pilot runs are being undertaken on selected routes inside the zone to assess the technology's performance under real-world situations. During 2025, engineers collaborated with ITC to tailor AI-powered driving systems to local road and logistical needs.
