Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Zimplats, Zimbabwe’s largest platinum group metals producer, has placed an order with Sandvik for 28 units of underground mining equipment to support expansion at its Ngezi mines.
The fleet includes loaders, development jumbos, bolters, and haul trucks, with deliveries scheduled from late 2025 through mid-2026. The agreement also provides for parts and service kits to ensure long-term performance.
Located in the Hartley Geological Complex, Ngezi has transitioned from open-pit to underground mining. The new equipment is expected to strengthen operational efficiency and support Zimplats’ ongoing expansion plans.
Zimplats, majority-owned by Impala Platinum Holdings Limited (Implats), continues to invest in new underground mines and concentrators as part of its long-term growth strategy.
