Sandvik Wins Automation Orders In Namibia And Australia From Byrnecut

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Sandvik has received five orders for its AutoMine automation systems from Byrnecut, an underground mining contractor with operations in Namibia and Australia.

The orders, placed in the first quarter of 2026, comprise AutoMine Multi-Lite systems for mines in Gwalia, Ulysses, Youanmi, Gossan Valley, and Navachab. With these enhancements, the majority of Byrnecut's worldwide loader fleet now uses AutoMine technology.

Byrnecut has also increased the use of AutoMine for underground drilling at many of its locations, which supports its overall automation plan.

AutoMine Multi-Lite allows loaders to operate independently between production areas and loading locations, with a single operator managing up to three machines remotely from a surface control center.

The technology is designed to keep production running throughout shift changes, decreasing downtime and enhancing operational consistency. It also lets operators to operate remotely, which reduces their exposure to subsurface risks including dust, noise, and vibration.

Sandvik said that the deal underscores the growing use of automation in mining, as operators strive to increase safety, productivity, and efficiency across worldwide operations.
