Komatsu And Pronto Roll Out Autonomous Quarry Haulage

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Komatsu has teamed up with Silicon Valley autonomy firm Pronto to introduce self-driving haulage technology to quarries across North America. The new Komatsu Smart Quarry Autonomous, powered by Pronto, will integrate Pronto’s AI-driven platform into quarry-sized haul trucks, either as factory-fitted equipment or retrofits for existing fleets.

The system uses advanced sensors and machine learning to navigate haul roads, operate continuously with minimal human input, and deliver consistent cycle times with improved fuel efficiency. Linked to Komatsu’s Smart Quarry management suite, it also provides real-time data and analytics to optimize site performance.

Designed as an OEM-agnostic solution, the technology aims to improve safety by removing operators from high-risk areas, while lowering the cost and complexity of autonomous deployment for quarries of all sizes. Komatsu plans to make the system available through its North American dealer network.
