Sharjah Launches New Logistics Corridor Linking UAE And Oman Ports

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - In order to improve regional supply chain connections and trade flows, the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority has established an integrated logistics corridor that connects Sharjah with important Omani ports via land border crossings.

The corridor connects Sharjah to the ports of Sohar, Duqm, and Salalah, with Sohar acting as the main hub because of its close proximity to the UAE. The network combines land and marine transportation to increase the effectiveness of cargo transit and provide companies more alternatives for logistics.

The corridor's operational opening was marked by the first goods traveling from Port Khalid to Sohar Port via the Khatmat Malaha border crossing.

Fast-track shipping lanes, pre-clearance processes, and direct customs coordination between Sharjah and Oman are all part of the system, which helps cut down on processing times, transportation expenses, and the effectiveness of cargo flow.

Additionally, the corridor strengthens Sharjah's position as a regional logistics center by facilitating import, export, and re-export activities for merchants, manufacturers, and free zone businesses.

In order to further improve supply chain flexibility and regional connection, future development plans call for the incorporation of air freight services.
