Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Saudi Global Ports Group (SGP) has begun operations at the Jubail Container Terminal (JCT) in Jubail Commercial Port, under a 30-year concession deal with the Saudi Ports Authority.
The move is part of Saudi Arabia's attempts to enhance its logistics infrastructure and increase supply chain efficiency in accordance with Vision 2030.
Jubail Commercial Port is an important export center, and integrating JCT with SGP's network along the Kingdom's eastern coast is projected to increase capacity utilization and offer more flexible logistical options.
SGP would spend around $530 million throughout the concession period to update infrastructure and install new technology, allowing the port to accept bigger vessels.
The inclusion of JCT is also projected to increase linkages between ports and interior logistics networks, allowing for more efficient cargo transit and enhancing overall supply chain resilience.
