Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - To enhance port operations and freight flow, the Saudi Ports Authority has unveiled plans to build a sizable truck staging facility at Jeddah Islamic Port.
With a capacity of around 2,700 vehicles at a moment, the 1 million square meter facility can handle up to 40,000 trucks per day.
The General Authority for Roads, Elm Company, and Roshn Group will collaborate to execute the project to completion.
The staging facility will include driver amenities, operational and administrative offices, designated waiting zones, and smart technology to control truck movements.
According to the authorities, the initiative is intended to facilitate easier truck movement within the logistics network while lowering port gate congestion, cutting down on wait times, and enhancing the effectiveness of export, import, and transit operations.
