Konecranes Retrofit Supports Aqaba Port Crane Upgrade

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Aqaba Company for Ports Operation has completed the upgrade of two mobile cranes at Aqaba Port in partnership with Konecranes Retrofit, aiming to boost efficiency and safety.

The project cost about $850,000, compared with more than $16.9 million required to purchase new cranes.

The overhaul covered structural, mechanical, hydraulic and control systems, bringing the 20-year-old units up to performance levels comparable to modern models.

Each crane has a handling capacity of around 100 tonnes per hour. The units underwent technical inspections by the manufacturer and an independent firm before being put back into service.

Officials said the upgrade extends equipment life and supports reliable port operations while reducing capital expenditure.
