Johnson Arabia Expands Heavy Lift Capabilities With New Fleet Additions

To meet the growing demands of the GCC’s booming infrastructure and construction sectors, Johnson Arabia has significantly expanded its crane fleet by ordering nearly 30 new cranes. The company is introducing high-capacity units that enhance both reach and lifting strength. The new additions include some of the industry’s most sought-after models, such as Mobile Tower Cranes, Crawler Cranes, and All-Terrain Cranes, from top global manufacturers including Spierings, Terex, Grove, Liebherr, Kobelco, and Tadano. This expansion reinforces Johnson Arabia’s position as one of the region’s most diversified crane rental providers and demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to safety, reliability, and excellence in lifting solutions. The fleet now covers a lifting capacity range from 100 to 1,350 tons, ideal for both urban high-rise developments and heavy industrial applications.

“Johnson Arabia has recognized a need in the energy and infrastructure sector, and to support that, we invested in large Crawler Cranes to serve our clients and their projects,” says Mohammad Fareed Naser, Executive Manager for Cranes, UAE and KSA.

Crawler cranes remain essential for long-term infrastructure and energy projects, and Johnson Arabia has strengthened this segment with robust models, including the Terex 600-ton unit, as well as the Liebherr 1350-ton crawler crane one of the largest in the region alongside new Kobelco 250-ton crawler cranes. These crawlers are critical for large-scale lifting operations on projects such as the Etihad Rail, government power plants, new metro expansions, and residential developments, all of which Johnson Arabia has supported in the past. Based on this high demand, the team has invested in additional crawler crane units.

The next additions to the fleet are numerous All-Terrain Cranes, with lifting capacities ranging from 100 to 700 tons. These showcase the best in engineering expertise and are ideal for projects requiring mobility, quick setup, and precision for example, airport expansions, the New Jaddaf developments, and metro projects. “With the highest lifting capacity of 700 tons from our Terex Demag crane, and a team of skilled engineers, Johnson Arabia can participate in more projects that require lifting precast units, bridge segments, or heavy industrial components,” says Sreethu T, Engineering Manager, UAE. With such a wide range of lifting solutions, clients can be assured of finding the perfect crane for any project.

In addition to the extensive crawler and all-terrain range, Johnson Arabia is proud to be the only company in the GCC that owns two Spierings Mobile Tower Cranes, a rare asset in the region that sets it apart from other crane rental companies.

The first Spierings crane played a critical role during Expo 2020, particularly in constructing pavilions, where its compact footprint, high reach, and ultra-fast setup time made it invaluable on-site.

“We saw the demand for this type of mobile tower crane, which can be fully set up and operational in just 11 minutes,” says Managing Director Martin Kirby.

“The original Spierings unit proved to be a game-changer during Expo 2020. Based on its performance and client demand, I made the decision to invest in a second unit, which will be delivered by mid-September.”

The Spierings units combine the height and outreach of a tower crane with the mobility and speed of a mobile crane. Their compact travel size and rapid deployment make them perfect for city-center lifts, façade installations, and event infrastructure projects, where space and time are critical constraints.

This strategic fleet expansion enables Johnson Arabia to better support high-profile developments across the region from megaprojects like the new Maktoum Airport to Expo legacy sites, metro rail, power plants, offshore modules, and commercial towers. “For the operations team, this addition helps streamline crane allocation for projects and allows us to work more efficiently,” says Edwin Bijmholt, Head of Operations at Johnson Arabia.

Each unit is deployed with certified operators and backed by Johnson Arabia’s industry-leading maintenance and HSE standards. By introducing newer models alongside proven performers, the company ensures clients benefit from the latest advancements in crane technology without compromising on reliability.

With this expansion, Johnson Arabia continues to show that it isn’t just adding machines it’s investing in client satisfaction, site safety, and operational efficiency. Whether lifting precast panels for a tower project or erecting steel for an oil refinery, the company now offers more options, greater capacity, and unmatched flexibility.
