Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - DP World has expanded its electric internal terminal vehicle (eITV) fleet at Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port from 14 to 146 units, representing one of the largest electric port vehicle deployments in the Middle East.
The upgrade is expected to reduce diesel consumption and cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 10%, equivalent to removing 2,255 cars from the road each year.
The expanded fleet includes 35 diesel vehicles converted to electric by DP World’s in-house engineering teams, alongside over 100 newly sourced units from global manufacturers. Supported by a network of rapid-charging stations, the eITVs are used to transport containers across the terminal, contributing to cleaner and more efficient operations.
In addition, 11 electric empty container handlers have been introduced for stacking and moving containers within the port.
These efforts reflect DP World’s commitment to sustainable logistics and align with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 objectives.
