Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - HD Construction Equipment has received a large excavator order in Africa, indicating a promising start to its post-launch operations and highlighting the region's relevance to the company's worldwide expansion strategy.
The company has inked a contract with mining development companies in Ethiopia to supply 120 large excavators, comprising 70 DEVELON excavators of 36 tons and 50 HYUNDAI excavators of 34 tons. The excavators will be used at gold mining operations.
Last year, HD Construction Equipment owned an estimated 80% of Ethiopia's excavator market, driven by demand for mid- to large-sized machines suitable for mining and resource development applications. Over the last three years, sales of the company's 30-ton excavators have increased annually, thanks to their durability, fuel efficiency, and mobility in African operating conditions.
The corporation intends to improve customer service throughout Africa by increasing its local presence, with a concentration on bases in Ghana and South Africa. It also wants to maximize sales synergies between its HYUNDAI and DEVELON brands, which have great familiarity across the continent.
Beyond Africa, HD Construction Equipment has received more orders in other rising countries. In Vietnam, the company was awarded an order for 71 excavators, including wheeled units for disaster relief and crawler excavators for national infrastructure projects. In Kyrgyzstan, it contracted to deliver 41 excavators for transportation infrastructure and real estate development.
The company has set a growth target of approximately $6.5 billion in annual revenue and $330 million in operating profit by 2026, backed by continued investment in manufacturing capacity, research and development, and expansion into high-growth emerging markets, with Africa positioned as a key pillar of its international strategy.
