Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Finning, the world's biggest Caterpillar dealer, has purchased John F Hunt Power, a UK generator rental specialist, greatly increasing its footprint in the power rental industry as demand for temporary and backup generation grows.

John F Hunt Power has a fleet of over 2,500 generators in the UK, servicing construction, industrial, and healthcare clients. The purchase is projected to more than increase Finning's power leasing earnings in the UK and Ireland, while also increasing capacity to handle bigger projects with more complicated power needs.

The transaction also boosts Finning's position in an increasingly significant area for Caterpillar. Beyond conventional construction and industrial uses, AI data centers and other power-intensive infrastructure are driving demand for large-scale power production, which requires dependable main, backup, and emergency supply.

Caterpillar has expanded its data center power offerings, which now include high-output diesel and gas generator sets, integrated power systems, and associated controls. The fast development of data centers, along with limits on energy infrastructures in certain areas, is providing new possibilities for generator manufacturers, dealers, and rental companies.
