Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) will terminate its Rokbak articulated hauler business, which was formerly known as Terex Trucks, as part of a strategic transition prompted by growing costs and global trade problems.
Volvo CE indicated that rising operational and supply chain expenses, along with external factors such as trade tariffs, had rendered the business financially unsustainable.
Rokbak, which owes its roots to Terex Trucks, has been manufacturing articulated carriers for over four decades. Volvo CE stated it would continue to provide aftermarket services to current customers and partners throughout and after the phase-out.
The company will devote resources to its larger hauling solutions offering, which includes rigid haulers. Its Motherwell factory in Scotland will continue to operate as a vital center for the design and manufacture of Volvo rigid haulers and future improvements.
The closure is subject to a consultation procedure that is planned to complete in the third quarter of 2026, with Volvo CE collaborating with unions and authorities to facilitate the transition for impacted workers.
