LiuGong To Build $317 Million Heavy Equipment Plant In Indonesia

Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - LiuGong Machinery Co will spend US$317 million to build one of Indonesia's largest and most advanced heavy equipment manufacturing plants in West Karawang.

During the World Expo Osaka 2025 business forum, LiuGong's Indonesian subsidiaries signed a memorandum of understanding that made the deal official.

The new facility will help Indonesia's Golden Indonesia 2045 industrial roadmap and focus on making things in a way that is good for the environment. It will do this through a Downstream Plus model that combines manufacturing, innovation, and the growth of local supply chains.

By 2030, the plant should be able to make 5,000 electric excavators, wheel loaders, and other low-emission machines each year. It will have a research and development center for electric construction vehicles and will use Industry 4.0 technologies like robotics, automated guided vehicles, and a digital manufacturing system.

LiuGong said that the plant's first product will be Indonesia's first electric heavy vehicle made in the country.
