Hitachi’s LANDCROS One Concept Excavator Wins 2025 Red Dot Design Award

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) has announced that its concept excavator, LANDCROS One, has received a 2025 Red Dot Design Award, one of the most respected international accolades in product design. The futuristic machine was showcased to the public at bauma Munich 2025, where it drew significant attention from the global construction community.

LANDCROS One reflects Hitachi’s vision for a smarter, safer, and more sustainable construction industry. Developed in collaboration with design firm Granstudio, the concept marks a strategic evolution in the company’s identity—from a trusted equipment provider to a leader in innovation-driven solutions.

The excavator is equipped with three interchangeable powertrain options—electric, diesel, and hydrogen—enabling adaptable and eco-friendly operations. It also offers three operating modes: manual, AI-assisted, and fully autonomous, catering to a wide range of user skills and allowing for remote control.

Advanced digital features such as AI-powered controls, remote workstations, and a 360-degree sensor system are integrated into the design to enhance safety and reduce operator fatigue.
